Honey Mustard Salmon


Ingredients

  • 1 salmon steak or fillet- 8-10 oz, 1 inch thick
  • 2 tbs Dijon mustard with white wine, such as Grey Poupon
  • 1.5 tbs honey- buy a jar from your local farmer's market!
  • 2 garlic cloves- minced
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp wasabi (optional)
  • 1/2 tbs soy sauce or 1 tsp sea/kosher salt  

Instructions

1.  Combine all the ingredients to marinade the salmon with.
2.  Marinade for 20 minutes.
3.  Pan Frying: 
     a. Heat up a skillet thoroughly over medium-high fire.
     b. Shake off the excess marinade. Gently put it in the pan to sear.
     c. Sear both sides brown.
     d. Turn the flame down to medium.
     e. Add the marinade to the pan and continue cooking until done through. The meat should be firm and not "wobbly" anymore.
     Oven Broiling:
     a. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
     b. Put all ingredients in a deep dish pan then in the oven.
     c. Cook on one side for about 15 minutes- sauce will be bubbling and reduced.
     d. Turn the fish over and turn oven to 'broil'. Broil til the fish is crisp and golden brown.
